Jenna is our former volunteer who has been looking for ways to stay involved with us from her hometown, Santa Barbara, California. She had a fabulous idea of partnering up with a local restaurant to raise funds for Proyecto Horizonte. Jenna contacted a local restaurant that agreed to donate a percentage of profit from the bill of every customer that came to the restaurant with a custom-made flyer provided by the restaurant for Jenna to hand out. Jenna came to eat at the restaurant with a group of her friends and managed to hand out fliers to a large number of people. The night was a definite success! Simply getting together with a few friends for delicious food and a nice movie – our former volunteer’s initiative shows that fundraising can be that easy! Ashley added a touch of art and creativity to her charity event by providing watercolor paper, a variety of pens, pencils, and paints for her friends to use to illustrate “what makes you happy” and share it with Proyecto Horizonte as a part of our 10-year anniversary campaign. Ashley’s event allowed to raise $280, which is enough to cover a teacher’s salary for a month. Just imagine the difference we could all make with a simple friends get together! Ashley shared her story about the charity event she organized on our volunteer blog.
Boys and girls of the Knappertsbuschstrasse school in Munich, Germany, joined forces to organize a solidarity run this past July. Their family members supported every lap of the run with a discretionary donation for the benefit of Proyecto Horizonte’s Sports School that offers football, volleyball and basketball classes. Eight grades were able to raise a total of 2,362 euros!
